What makes your brand unique?

Benedetta has pioneered, farm-sourced skin care, a term I have coined to describe our seed to bottle concept. Since our products hit the shelves in 1996, Benedetta has never used parabens, petrochemicals, or chemical preservatives. We have supported and used certified Organic and Biodynamic® ingredients, decades before the “trend”.

Benedetta maintains and is committed to authentically formulated (not copied) formulas. 92-100% of all our ingredients are Certified Organic, Biodynamic®, Eco- harvested and 100% Sustainable. Benedetta has been a voice for sustainability and has consistently used post-consumer glass in our products. Our one plastic bottle is a non-leaching, non-estrogen-disrupter plastic used with our Sacred Soap.

Last year we introduced the MIRON glass to the line. No light can penetrate this deep violet glass, allowing each preparation a more energetic composition and profile! In addition, I have always formulated looking first at the synergies of botanicals and how they best resonate with the skin’s ability to utilize them, regenerate, and balance.

What makes Benedetta's deodorant "The Best"?

Finally a completely natural deodorant that actually works! Benedetta's deodorant spray will safely and effectively keep you free of odor. This beautiful formula is a proprietary blend that includes biodynamic grape alcohol and certified organic essential oils. You won't find any aluminum, propylene glycol, or parabens here. It's a very concentrated formula with no water or fillers added to it. How does aromatherapy work and where did it get its start?

The term "Aromatherapy" was actually coined by Rene Gattefosse, a french perfumist and chemist. After catching his lab coat on fire in an accident in his laboratory, the closest liquid to him was a vat of lavender essential oil used in the perfume trade. He thrust his whole arm into the liquid without a second thought to put out the fire. Not only did he find that he not blister, but he recovered quickly with no sign of wounds or scarring. This discovery led him to a life of research and discovery of the therapeutic effects and benefits of pure essential oils.

Are there any clinical studies showing its efficacy?

There are numerous clinical studies as well as scientific studies on the efficacy of essential oil use. Our present day Aromatherpists such as Dr. Daniel Peneol and Dr. Pierre Franchome are medical doctors and researchers of essential oils. Jean Valnet worked in the wound clinics during World War II. He worked with amputees and prevented gangrene from setting in with anti-microbial effects of Lemon and Thyme oils. There are countless studies and written documents on the factual effects of essential oils. Essential Oils are being used in burn clinics and medical treatment centers throughout the world, particularly in Europe and Australia. Unfortunately, the United States is not as ready to embrace alternative or natural therapies, nor are we teaching the use of essential oils as medicine to our doctors. However, nurses in England as well as massage therapists everywhere get 600 hours of Aromatherapy training.  

It is mandatory to use essential oils that are harvested and processed in accordance with organic standards to be considered aromatherapeutic or of medicinal quality. Depending on the disorder, essential oils should be diluted to fit the individual's need and should be prescribed and administered by qualified professional. For everyday use and application, one should treat these magical natural essences with great respect and have some knowledge of their safety.  

Can essential oils be effective in products like lotions or mists?

Absolutely! Essential oils have the ability to penetrate the surface of the skin, renewing cellular function at a great rate. Remember the case of Rene Gattefosse?  Absolutely no scarring from a severe burn! Essential oils placed in the hands of a qualified formulator can be nothing less than magical on the skin. They are nature's rejuvenating "chemicals."  Essential oil-based skin care is, in my opinion, light years ahead of all the laboratory developed chemicals that are today's and tomorrow's trends.

"What sets Benedetta apart from other skin care companies?"

For the past 24 years I have created skin care preparations to be authentic from every aspect of formulation, never following trends or status quo in the case of traditional skin care companies. Benedetta is to skin care what fresh and alive vegetation is to food.  Our formulas are food for the skin because they nourish and revitalize in the same way our food should.

I have always looked at the anatomy of the skin and the synergistic relationship with the rest of the body's ability to heal and rejuvenate. I make products that work in harmony with its basic function. For instance, utilizing plants that work with moving debris embedded in deeper layers of the skin by stimulating the blood and lymphatic system, and purifying the pores. As this is one aspect of the formulation process, many are required to Holistically achieve the results intended. Each botanical and its individual vibrational coding and health benefit is multiplied when combined and married to others, creating the effects that make Benedetta so unique.

By having a holistic view and knowing how certain plants resonate with our body's ability to heal and rejuvenate, I can see what role they play in the end result: purified, nourished, healthy skin. In other words, Benedetta is created Holistically by finding botanicals that work perfectly with our largest organ (the skin), by penetrating, moving, stimulating, and rejuvenating "naturally!"

Natural is a bastardized term, especially over the last 30 years. Natural should not be adulterated with synthetics of any kind. Once fillers, preservatives, additives, enhancers, etc., enter into a natural substance, it is no longer natural by any stretch of the imagination.

We eat processed substances that are entirely made up of synthetic ingredients, with mere traces of real food particles, and call it food. It appears the body digests this stuff, but where does it really go? Does it nourish our cells? Does it build tissues, organs, and body systems? No. We are filled, not sustained. And what are we creating if we are what we eat?

Fresh food picked daily and seasonally is bioavailable . . . what about skin care?

Since my earlier years in discovering new ways to create formulas only using botanicals to absorb and nourish the skin, I have used the phrase, "from seed to bottle," and acquiring ingredients, "as close to their earthly source as possible." I create as if we are living in a rainforest, seeing that we are part of the greater whole. I embrace that relationship by seeing what botanicals are alive in nature that will assist us in our ability to be our optimal best. It was this discovery that brought me to the world of formulation in the first place. Studying the botanical families and their chemistry awakened in me the ability to understand our ecosystem, and in particular, its relationship to our own healing and sustainability.

If we sandblast our skin's upper layers or laser them off, will we have immediate results from wrinkles, age spots, and other miner imperfections? And if so, at what what long term cost? Just like the nourishment we put in our bodies, our skin care is as important. It must target several aspects to harmonize and balance the skin:

1. purify - detoxify

2. nourish - cell builders
3. protect - antioxidants

As part of the synergistic, Holistic view, I created a system to aid balance during the day, as well as when we sleep. Following this simple protocol will aid in a more regulated complexion with  preventative and enduring results:

My intention 23 years ago, was to find ingredients as close to their earthly source as possible. Back then, there were few out there who were certified Organic or Biodynamic. Herbs and botanicals may have been grown that way, but not certified. My concern has always been about unadulterated raw materials that have the greatest potential for energy producing nutrients. Each ingredient is as important as the next, as they unify as one cohesive synergy.
